The extended spring break

Updated: May 12, 2020

“But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you.”

- Psalm 33:18-22 (NIV)

Just a few weeks ago I was super busy with school, working hard at my job, trying to catch up on sleep; and looking forward to the joys of spring break. Fast forward to today, and I have more than enough time to do... Well, everything! Because I'm on an extended spring break due to CVOID-19. So I've gone from being knee-deep in schoolwork to nearly being bored out of mind. When I drove home, away from my college campus for spring break, I didn't anticipate that I would still be on break at this point (but yet, here I am). Truly it's been a while since I've had this much free time on my hands, and this sudden break has surely shaken things up in my life. However, I also know that several people at this time can relate to me as well. And we mustn't allow ourselves to become weary, frightened, or anxious, because God is our anchor. Although things are looking a bit uncertain right now, He is constant and consistent in every season, and I don't know about you, but that's exactly what I need..especially right now!

It’s become more apparent than ever that we live in a hustle & grind culture! We’re always on the move. All of my time is typically absorbed by the busyness of life. I often don't have much time to simply sit and think. I must always make time to do certain tasks, but now I have more than enough time to be productive AND rest! I no longer have to “fight” for quiet time, and I have fewer opportunities to get distracted by random things. When the dust settles, I want to be more intentional about being less busy! So that I can be productive in the proper areas of my life.

I don't know about you, but I never saw this coming. The virus, the panic, and the high demand for toilet paper have all been such a huge surprise to me. But I can assure you that none of these things have surprised God. He knew exactly what was going to go down the moment that we stepped into 2020. It's become more evident than ever that we humans aren't "running the show" down here. Because if we were, then these events wouldn't be such a shock to us. Everything has been canceled, and life as we know it is currently at a standstill. But we can rely on the fact that God’s got everything under control!

Friends! It's time to get back to the basics and truly rest in God’s peace and promises. We must stop relying on worldly concepts, and truly seek His heart. He is the only one who can keep us grounded in times like these. All of our hope should be in Him like never before. At this time, we should all be turning to God, because only He knows what's next. It's not time to mope around or be in fear! Here’s an opportunity to have a fresh perspective! If you're like me and you have more time on your hands than usual. Take this time to reflect on life, spend time with God, bond with loved ones, pick up new hobbies, read my ebook (shameless plug); and of course, stay safe, clean, and fearless at this time! Because it won't be long before these circumstances pass, and you’ve got to get back to reality.

Whether you’re off from work, school, or both! I know that this extra time may make you feel a bit off and nervous, But you and I are in this together (Virtual hug)! And most importantly, God is with you!

Lord, I thank you for my friends who are reading this post, may you keep them safe and covered at this time. Diminish all worry, panic, and fear that may be present, and surround them with your peace. And for those who have been affected by CVOID-19, we pray for healing and speedy recoveries at this time. In Jesus' name, amen.

STAY INSPIRED!
