“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.”
- Ephesians 3:20
I used to be very serious about how I planned my day, week, month, and life altogether. However, it got to the point where it became exhausting because the unpredictable would always occur. There were many instances that I would be disappointed because my expectations and my reality wouldn't line up. I've learned that there is a difference between having aspirations and being a control freak; in fact, there is a fine line between the two. I had to let go and allow God's plans to beautifully interrupt my own. Instead of trying to do things my own way, I began to dream with God. I started to align my plans with his, and although I can't see the big picture like him, I trust his authority over my life. Besides, we walk by faith, not by sight.
Although I'm only 20 years old, a lot of factors in my life don't look the way that I expected them to. When I was younger I saw myself at a big four-year university, pursuing a heavy loaded medical career, and perhaps a little taller (LOL). All jokes aside, I'm actually really happy despite the fact that my life doesn't look the way that I envisioned it; and that's because happiness is a choice. I've chosen to be joyful and content with my life. I've also chosen to remain faithful to God's plan for me. There have been a couple of surprises and unexpected twist, but I've maintained peace because I know that God's ways are higher than mine. The things that I once really valued and hoped for, revealed themselves to be vain and superficial. Why you (might) ask? Because I wanted those things for my self, not for God's glory.
Living a surrendered life means that you lay down all of your dreams, and allow God to modify them. Think of your desires as a rough draft, and God as the editor. When you submit your desires to him, give him the role of doing all the final touches. Don't try to intervene and tell God how to do his job, just allow him to complete the final draft; You'll be amazed by his work trust me.
It's amazing to me that God calls us to things that we never imagined for ourselves. I never saw my self being a blogger, and very transparent over social media. But now it's honestly one of my favorite things to do. If I had stuck to my list of life “do’s and don't's” I wouldn't be as happy as I am now. Sometimes we expect happiness and fulfillment to meet us once we “make it”, acquire our first million bucks, and become famous. But you can find fulfillment right now in your everyday life, as long as you're living out God’s dream for your life. It doesn't really matter how much you make, or what type of degree you have. Because as believers, it is not what we do that brings us fulfillment; it’s who we live for that brings us fulfillment. It doesn't matter what we go through, with God as our guide we will always have peace. Begin to ask God to turn his dreams into your dreams, you won't be disappointed.
The Bible tells us that ALL THINGS work together for those who love God and are called according to his purpose!
Now let me ask you…
Do you love God?
Are you called according to his purpose?
If you answered yes, then know that all things are working together for your good!
Even when it seems like things are falling apart just remember that they are falling into place. God will never forsake you and disturb your well being. So relax, stay calm, and begin to dream with God.
STAY INSPIRED!
